• The group 6 Martini Porsche of Jacky Ickx and Gijs van Lennep leads an Inaltera past the pits complex during the night. Using the 2.14 litre turbo-charged engine, the model 936 started from pole position for the 44th Grand Prix d'Endurance and led from start to finish. Ickx recorded his third Le Mans victory with van Lennep taking his second; it was also the first victory for a turbo-charged car.
